Activists for two causes – the uprising in Libya and unions’ battle over collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin – are slated to happen this afternoon in downtown Atlanta.

Union activists and Moveon.org plan to rally at noon at the Georgia Capitol building as part of a campaign in multiple states. The groups are rallying to protest Republican-led efforts by the Wisconsin governor to cut government workers’ benefits and their ability to negotiate labor contracts.

Meanwhile, Libyan-Americans and others plan to protest Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi’s reportedly brutal tactics to put down the rebellion in that nation. The rally is to take place from 1-3 p.m Saturday near CNN’s headquarters on Marietta Street.
