Powerball fever is in full effect.

Wednesday's jackpot has soared to an eye-popping $320 million, up $15 million from the $305 million projection that was made after no one matched all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing.

The national drawing is set to be the fourth-largest in Powerball history — the top prize was $365 million won six years ago — but that number will surely rise.

A $336 million Powerball jackpot was won by a single person in Oregon in February. On June 23, a couple in Connecticut won $60 million.

Powerball is a national lottery played in 42 states, including Maryland and the District of Columbia. Tickets cost $2 for a single play for one drawing. The drawing is held at 10:59 p.m.on Wednesdays.

Meanwhile a Riverdale man will have lots more money to buy Powerball and other lottery tickts.

Carl Williams won $652, 579 in last Thursday's Fantasy 5 drawing. Winning numbers from the Aug. 9 drawing were: 6-10-19-32-39.

Williams selected his own combination of five numbers and bought his ticket at Shell Food Mart, 1210 Highway 138 S.W., Riverdale. He claimed his windfall Friday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.
