The Powder Springs City Council approved a bid for landscaping that will complete the first phase of the Silver Comet Trail Linear Park on Richard Sailors Parkway.

J. Gibbs Landscaping Inc. of Carrollton, the lowest bidder, was awarded the $81,100 contract with a 5-0 vote Monday. The company will install landscaping on the slopes within the linear park next to the exercise and climbing structures, including a year of maintenance.

The park also now includes a concession and restroom facility and a playground.

Funding for the park has been assisted by a $90,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
