Pollen count continues to fall for third straight day
After 13 consecutive days about 1,000, Atlanta’s pollen count reached only the triple digits for the third straight day on Monday.
Monday’s count of 667 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air was down about 100 from Sunday’s count of 768, which in turn was down from Saturday’s measurement of 796.
After getting a late start this year, Atlanta’s 2013 pollen spring pollen count topped out at 8,024 on April 11 and stayed above 1,000 until Friday’s count of 2,169.
Last year’s spring pollen season peaked on March 20, when the count hit an all-time record of 9,367, and the last reading above 1,000 came on March 30.
Monday’s count, as measured by the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinic, was comprised mainly of oak, pine, sycamore, willow and grass pollens.
