Atlanta police on Tuesday were still looking for a motorcyclist believed to have been involved in a wreck a day earlier on I-20.
Police spokeswoman Kim Jones told the AJC that officers responding to a 12:05 a.m. Monday accident call near Hamilton E. Holmes Drive located a red Yamaha motorcycle lying in the second lane from the shoulder.
"There were three different vehicles that struck the motorcycle," Jones said. "All of the drivers advised that the motorcycle was already laying on the roadway when it was struck."
She said that none of those drivers observed anyone on or near the motorcycle.
"All units on scene checked the wooded area for the driver of the motorcycle," Jones said. Police also used a helicopter and a k-9 unit to search, but could not locate anyone, she said.
Jones said area hospitals were alerted to be on the lookout for anyone arriving "with injuries consistent with someone being involved in a motorcycle accident."
