Police: Suspicious package at Turner Field ‘no threat’
A police SWAT team was called to the Turner Field area Tuesday to investigate a suspicious package, police said.
Around 1 p.m., police were called to the area of Hank Aaron Drive and Georgia Avenue, after Turner Field security officers found what appeared to be a suspicious electronic device under a garbage on the sidewalk near the gates, Atlanta Police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon said.
SWAT units arrived and remotely disabled the device, Lyon said.
“At this time, it appears that the device was of no threat, and the area has since been reopened,” Lyon said.
