Smyrna police have identified the man accused of shooting to death another man after a verbal argument in a parking lot.

Henry Darryl Francis, 23, faces a homicide charge and four counts of aggravated assault in the May 17 death of Chudi Okereke, Officer Michael Smith with Smyrna police said Wednesday.

Francis and Okereke, 27, argued in the parking lot at Smyrna Commons apartments on Ward Street before running inside an apartment, police said. Shots were fired and Okereke was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died.

Investigators believe Francis sustained a gunshot injury to the arm, but have not been able to locate him, Smith said. Francis may be headed for Detroit, police said.

Francis is a black male, 5-feet-9 inches tall and 150 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes. Francis has several tattoos, some of which are on his lower arms.

Anyone with information about Francis is asked to contact Smyrna police.
