A suspected rabid fox was killed by police in Johns Creek.

Around 5 p.m. Friday, an officer on patrol was flagged down by several citizens on Carrington Cove in the Kensington Oaks subdivision, said Johns Creek spokeswoman Rosemary Taylor.

The citizens told the officer there was a fox in the back yard of one of the residences, Taylor said.

The officer checked out the fox and determined that it was rabid and, after consulting with his supervisor, fired one shot from his  Glock 21,  killing the fox, Taylor said.

There have been no other incidents of rabid animals recently in Johns Creek, she said.
