Clayton County police are looking for an 8-month-old baby taken from state custody allegedly by his teen parents.

Montevious Vius Whitfield was kidnapped, police said, when the parents were having a supervised visit with the child at the Smith Transitional and Rehabilitation Services facility in Riverdale.

Police said they were called to the facility around 1:30 p.m., Tuesday after the baby boy was taken by his father, 17-year-old Montevious Terrell Howard, and the child's juvenile mother.

A state Division of Family and Children Services worker was monitoring the visit when the mother took the child into a bathroom on the ground floor of the office building where the facility is located, police said.

The mother and child were soon seen leaving the building, at 804 Commerce Blvd., in an unidentified vehicle, police said.

A DFACS spokeswoman contacted late Wednesday afternoon was not able to comment on the case.

The child was last wearing a yellow, navy and white shirt with khaki shorts and Oxford-style shoes, police said. The mother was wearing an orange sun dress with flip flops. A description for the father was not given.

Anyone with information about the location of the child or either of his parents is asked to call Clayton County Police at 678-610-4781.
