Investigators Monday were still trying to identify a body found in a burn-out car over the weekend.
An early Saturday call about a southwest Atlanta house fire led police to the back of a vacant home, where they found a burning car and a body inside.
The body, found in the trunk, was so badly burned that police could not determine whether the victim was a man or a woman, or how the person died, according to Atlanta police spokesman Lt. Paul Guerrucci.
Monday, the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office was conducting several tests to determine the cause of death, identify the body, and even tell whether it was a man or a woman.
The fire was reported around 2:30 a.m. at a home on Westmont Road. Authorities transported the burned-out vehicle with the body to the medical examiner's office to preserve any evidence.
