A MARTA bus driver was injured Sunday evening when he inadvertently drove through a shootout in southwest Atlanta, police said.

Around 6:20, police responded to two separate reports of a person shot – one in the 900 block of Victory Drive and the other at the Atlanta fire station on Manford Road.

Officers arriving at the two locations found one man shot in the arm and another shot in the abdomen, Atlanta Police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

Apparently, both men were involved in an argument in the 1600 block of Sylvan Road near Harte Drive and shot one another, Jones said.

A MARTA bus driving by was caught in the crossfire, and broken glass from stray bullets hit the driver – who was alone on the bus – in the face, police said.

The driver was taken to Emory Midtown Hospital and treated for minor cuts, MARTA officials said.

Both gunshot victims were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where they remain in stable condition. Both men also were charged with aggravated assault and other pending charges.

Neither man has been identified by police.
