Just 10 minutes after a man robbed a SunTrust bank in Alpharetta he was caught, police said.

Officers with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety happened to be patrolling the area near the bank at Old Milton Parkway on Tuesday and found the suspect, Deon Watkins, 31, attempting to escape on a side street that was two blocks from the scene, police said.

Police said the man took cash from the bank and robbed a customer.

“He will now get a new place to stay courtesy of Alpharetta DPS!” the department wrote on its Facebook page.

Police said that members of the FBI were also at the scene.

No other information was immediately available.

The AJC has requested more information from the Alpharetta police.
