A North Georgia man was arrested for allegedly throwing his 93-year-old mother-in-law to the ground in Alpharetta.

James Coloross, 66, then allegedly threw the woman into a wheelchair in the parking lot of the Sam's Club on Davis Road on Tuesday, according to a police report obtained by Channel 2 Action News.

Witnesses reported the incident to police, who arrived at the store and interviewed the victim.

The woman told officers that Coloross forcibly removed her from the family's van and threw her to the ground before he picked her up by her wrists and threw her into a wheelchair, yelling at her for "making a scene."

Coloross, of Mineral Bluff, said he was trying to put the woman into her wheelchair, but the wheels weren't locked, causing her to slip and fall to the ground, according to the police report.

After his arrest Tuesday on a battery charge, Coloross was booked into Fulton County Jail. He was released Thursday, records show.
