Police investigate homicide in Paulding County

March 22, 2012

A 23-year-old man is the first homicide victim in Paulding County for 2012, the sheriff's office said Thursday.

Deputies were called shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday to Macland Road in the area of Covington Drive, near Hiram, to investigate an assault, possibly with a person shot, Cpl. Ashley Henson with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office said.

When they arrived, deputies found the 23-year-old man unresponsive outside, Henson said. The man, whose name was not released, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, where he was pronounced dead, Henson said.

GBI agents are assisting Paulding deputies with the investigation, the first homicide reported in the county this year, Henson told the AJC.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 770-443-3015.
