DeKalb County police say they have identified a possible suspect in the shooting of an 18-year-old who was allegedly killed over slashed tires.

Sabrina Holloway told Channel 2 Action News she dropped off her son, Marcus, at an apartment complex around 10:30 p.m. Friday to hang out with friends. Two hours later, she got a phone call telling her Marcus was dead.

Holloway said she believes her son, a senior at Southwest DeKalb High School, was killed due to a case of mistaken identity. Earlier Friday evening one of her son’s friends slashed another man’s tires, Holloway told Channel 2.

When a car full of men pulled up later seeking retribution, everyone ran except for her son, Holloway said.

“Marcus was innocent,” said Holloway. “I cannot sleep, knowing (the killers) are out there walking around, doing whatever they want to do while my son is lying in a morgue with a toe tag on. And there is nothing I can do about it.”
