DeKalb County man is accused of stabbing his father and girlfriend to death late Thursday night.

Rodney Eugene Smith Jr., 35, is charged with two counts of murder, said DeKalb police spokesman Maj. James Conroy, in the deaths of Rodney Eugene Smith Sr., 58, and Teresa Michelle White, 34.

Smith is also charged with aggravated assault in an attack on his mother, Lorraine Smith, 58.

The attack occurred at about 11 p.m. in the home Smith shared with his parents in the 1100 block of Mannbrook Drive near Stone Mountain, police said.

When police arrived to investigate a domestic disturbance, the bodies of the stabbing victims were discovered. Smith’s mother was hospitalized and was in stable condition Friday, police said.

Smith, whom police said attacked White before attacking his father and mother, was taken into custody at the scene with minor injuries.

Two children in the home were not harmed and placed in protective custody.
