An Oxford man was arrested Saturday after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death at her parents’ home.

Jessica Tolbert, 29, was alone Friday night at 325 Elderberry Trace in Fayetteville when 45-year-old Terry Bernard Davis forced his way in, and stabbed her several times, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Detective Josh Shelton said.

Tolbert had recently moved out of the residence the couple shared, Shelton said. She died after being transported to Fayette Piedmont Hospital.

Her former lover was quickly named as the suspect.

“We are still investigating the history between the two and are not making any comment on that at this point,” Shelton told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The knife Davis is alleged to have used was recovered from the crime scene, authorities say. Davis was arrested several hours later in Atlanta and is now in custody at the Fayette County jail charged with murder, Shelton said.
