Smash-and-grab burglars fled an East Point pizzeria empty-handed Thursday after trying to steal a couple of large flat-screen televisions in a brazen daylight break-in.

Chris Wiley, manager of Oz Pizza on Main Street, told the AJC that East Point police and his alarm company called about 8:40 a.m. to tell him that his front window had been broken out.

“They tried to get two flat-screen TVs,” Wiley said. “One, they dropped on the ground; the other, they could not get down from the harness that we had on it.”

Wiley said the restaurant, which is across the street from a MARTA station, had been burglarized an average of once a year since opening 13 years ago.
