A wastewater pipe burst near a Stone Mountain-area neighborhood Friday, sending nearly 7,000 gallons of sewage into Barbashela Creek behind residents' houses, Channel 2 Action News reports.
Crews from the DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management were at the scene most of Friday fixing the leak behind the 1500 block of Fieldgreen Outlook in the Hidden Hills neighborhood.
Crews eventually fixed the broken pipe and hooked up a hose to a fire hydrant to flush away the mess.
Some neighbors were frustrated they were getting no information from the county about what was happening.
“I saw the truck riding through here all day. I didn’t see them talk to anybody. They had to know what was going on,” resident Michael Buckner told Channel 2.
County officials said the spill would not have an impact on the neighborhood but they would monitor conditions of Barbashela Creek for the coming year.
