Three pedestrians have been killed on Cobb County roads in three days and a fourth was left seriously injured, police reports show.

The latest incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. Saturday on South Marietta Parkway at Rose Drive. A 50-year-old man was struck as he walked across South Marietta Parkway.

Police say a silver 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Sheila Mize, 57, of Marietta, struck the man as he walked outside the crosswalk. He was transported to Kennestone Hospital where he died of his injuries. Police are not identifying the man pending notification of his family. Authorities said the case is under investigation and charges are being considered. They ask anyone with information on the incident to call Michael Gardner at 770-794-5266.

In the second incident, a woman attempting to cross Austell Road south of Floyd Road on Friday evening stepped into the path of a car traveling northbound, Cobb police said.

Wendy L. Nolan, 39, of Austell was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman.

The driver of the 2004 Toyota Corolla that hit Nolan, Jasmine N. Hamm of Austell, was not expected to be charged, Bowman said

On Thursday, Charles H. Collins, 66, a former McEachern High School head football coach and Atlanta Falcons chaplain, was attempting to cross Atlanta Road in Smyrna just before 7 p.m. when he was hit by a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

Collins was taken to Emory Adventist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Silverado, Nicholas W. Bryant, 25, of Carrollton, stopped after the collision and was not expected to be charged.

Also on Thursday, Preston Lee Hester, 62, of Greensboro, N.C., was trying to cross Powder Springs Road near Oxford Road against the light when he was hit by a 2002 Toyota Camry.

Hester was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Bowman, the police spokesman, said alleged alcohol use by Hester is suspected to be a contributing factor in the incident.

The driver of the Toyota that struck Hester, 44-year-old Craig S. Goldstein of Marietta, stopped and was not expected to be charged.

Anyone with information in the accident in the Friday accident involving Nolan is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
