A 20-year-old Kennesaw woman was struck and killed early Thursday along Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw, police said.

The accident happened shortly before 4 a.m. on Cobb Parkway between Mack Dobbs and Pine Mountain roads, near the entrance to The Woodlands of Kennesaw mobile home park.

Kennesaw police spokesman Scott Luther said the southbound motorist who struck the woman “called us and said something to the effect that he believed he hit something, he wasn’t sure what.”

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Hannah M. Straton’s body just off the western edge of the roadway, Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman said.

Investigators on the scene told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Straton was in the middle of the road when she was struck, and that the driver will not face charges.

Bowman said alcohol use by Straton is suspected to be a contributing factor.

After a joint investigation with Cobb authorities, Kennesaw police charged Jacob Tillman, 22, with three counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor, Officer Scott Luther said. Tillman is accused of providing alcohol for Straton and two other underage people.

He was taken to Kennesaw City Jail.
