Peachtree City has chosen Janet Moon as its new police chief, the first woman to hold that post. Moon has a 30-year history in law enforcement, most recently as deputy chief of the Suwanee Police Department.
She was selected from among three finalists and will begin her new duties on Aug. 10 at an annual salary of $110,000. Moon is a graduate of the U.S. Army Military Police School in Alabama, the Georgia Law Enforcement Command in Columbus and the FBI National Academy in Virginia.
She replaces William McCollom, who resigned in March after being investigated for a New Year’s Eve shooting that left his former wife paralyzed.
