Peachtree City denies Burger King permit
Peachtree City voted Thursday to maintain a zoning ordinance limiting fast-food drive-thrus in Wilshire Village.
Developers hoping to build a new Burger King in southern Peachtree City didn’t have it their way Thursday night.
The City Council unanimously rejected a zoning amendment to allow another fast-food restaurant in Wilshire Village, opposite Wilshire Pavilion on Ga. Hwy. 74 South.
The current zoning, negotiated in 2007 with nearby neighborhoods, limits the site to having only one stand-alone restaurant with drive-thru service,. A Zaxby’s has already been built there. Several residents, including the president of the Wilshire Estates homeowners association, spoke in opposition to the proposal, citing concerns about increased traffic.
