The parents of a 5-month-old baby who died in a Buckhead hotel have been charged with the boy's death.
Akbar Cojoe, 40, and Shauna Mayers, 27, have been charged with felony murder and cruelty to children in the death of Chase Mayers, Carlos Campos, spokesman for Atlanta police, said Wednesday night.
Police found the infant unresponsive upon arrival Sunday night at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Peachtree Road. Chase was transported to a children's hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Campos said.
An autopsy conducted by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office determined the baby died from blunt force trauma to the torso.
Cojoe and Mayers were booked into the Fulton County jail, where they were being held Wednesday night without bond.
