Rush hour traffic backed up more than eight miles Thursday morning behind a truck wreck on I-75 in Cobb County.

The truck ran off the right side of I-75 southbound just before the North Marietta Parkway exit about 6:30 a.m. and overturned, according to the state Department of Transportation.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Authorities initially blocked two southbound lanes. Only one lane was blocked at 7:30, but the DOT reported an eight-mile backup on I-75 southbound.

All lanes had reopened by 10:30 a.m., but the truck was still overturned, emergency vehicles remained on the scene and southbound traffic was still backed up about three miles.

Northbound lanes were not affected, but fire crews were sent to douse several brush fires that broke out later along the northbound shoulder of the interstate just south of the North Marietta Parkway.
