GE opens smart grid experience center

General Electric opens its exhibition area Thursday designed to show the public how its smart grid works.

The Grid IQ Experience Center is part of GE’s Smart Grid Center of Excellence newly opened in Cobb County and housing the company’s digital energy business worldwide headquarters.

The Grid IQ Experience includes a computer-guided education tour of the center with interactive demonstrations about smart grid technology.

Gov. Nathan Deal will be in attendance for the grand opening, which begins at 10 a.m.

The event is open to the media and invited guests only.
