One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting early Tuesday outside a southwest Atlanta adult entertainment club.

The shooting happened about 2:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Magic City on Forsyth Street, on the southern edge of downtown.

“We responded to the area in regards to shots fired,” Atlanta police Lt. Paul Guerrucci told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“It appears that multiple shots were fired,” Guerrucci said.

One man died at the scene, and another was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. His condition was not available, but police spokeswoman Kim Jones said he is expected to recover from his injuries.

“The incident began inside the club,” Jones said late Tuesday morning.

“A large number of people in one group began fighting with another smaller group,” Jones said. “Both groups were escorted out of the establishment by club security.”

She said the two victims got into a car and were driving away “when suddenly they were fired upon.”

One man, shot in the torso, was able to walk to responding officers and seek help. The second man was still seated inside the vehicle when he died, Jones said.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Forsyth Street just south of the Greyhound bus station was closed for about four hours as detectives investigated the shooting.
