An explosive fire early Thursday morning at a southwest Atlanta boarding home displaced five people.
And at least one resident believes the blaze was set deliberately.
“I think it was a firebomb,” said Bill Brown, the property manager who also lives at the house in the 1200 block of Ralph David Abernathy Blvd.
Fire officials were more cautious, however, about what started the blaze.
“We haven’t put anything out as far as a cause for the fire,” said Atlanta Fire and Rescue arson investigator Lt. Chris Block.
Atlanta fire officials were called to the scene of the fire around 3 a.m., where officials said one person was hurt.
"There was lots of fire," Atlanta Fire Capt. Scott Dove said. "When we arrived, the front porch and two bedrooms were fully involved."
“I heard an explosion, and a big flash of fire came up above the house,” Brown said.
"Everybody lost something," resident Robert Cornett said.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
