Two of the K-9 officers in the DeKalb County Police Department are stepping down due to old age.

Bach, who is 10, and Rysa, who is nearly 9, have both worked for the county since 2005. They are retiring due to age and deteriorating health conditions such as arthritis.

Both dogs were sold for $1 each to their handlers, with whom they will continue to live.
