Northside tournout scant for city elections
Northside turnout is reported light during the final week of early/advance voting leading up to the the Nov. 3 municipal elections.
Cherokee County elections supervisor Kim Stancil said that through midday Monday, 440 people had voted early in the Canton municipal election at their Canton headquarters. Only nine had cast ballots in the Woodstock election but Stancil expected that to pick up with a location open at the Woodstock Public Library for the final week. She said 29 absentee ballots had been mailed, with 14 returned.
In Forsyth County, elections head Barbara Luth said that 170 early votes had been cast through Friday in the Cumming city election. She said that appeared low, but also called it tough to gauge because Cumming hasn’t had a municipal election since 2003. She said that 21 absentee ballots had been mailed out, with six returned.
Fulton County elections officials say through last Wednesday, 139 early votes had been cast at the Ocee Branch Library in Alpharetta, and 121 at the Roswell Branch Library, a turnout that an office spokesman described as light to moderate.
The early voting period began Oct. 12 and wraps up Friday.
