Northside Parkway was reopened after being closed between West Paces Ferry Road and Howell Mill Road for several hours Wednesday morning by a bomb scare at a Wells Fargo branch bank.
Atlanta police said someone noticed a suspicious ticking sound coming from the night deposit box. The police bomb squad arrived on the scene at 9:50 a.m. and began unloading its robot.
Police also closed the entrance and exit ramps to and from Interstate 75, which are directly across the street from the bank. Several businesses in the area, including McDonald's, Steak ‘n Shake and Chick-fil-A restaurants, were closed to traffic.
There was no immediate word what if anything was found at the scene, but all the roads were reopened at noon.
Return for updates.
