The Northside Hospital health system announced plans Monday to expand its Forsyth County campus by about 100,000 square feet, investing more than $50 million and adding about 150 jobs.
The expansion includes adding 33 beds to the 155-bed hospital and will include a renovation of the intensive care unit. The hospital also serves patients from Gwinnett, Dawson and north Fulton counties. The region has been one of the fastest growing in metro-Atlanta.
Inpatient admissions at Northside’s Forsyth hospital rose 172 percent in eight years, while inpatient days rose 194 percent, a hospital spokesman said.
The hospital has created a synergy around its location on Ga. 400, attracting doctors and associated medical offices, and it has added services such as maternity and newborn, surgical, imaging and an emergency room in the past few years.
