“Financial Vulnerability in North Fulton” is the theme of the North Fulton Poverty Task Force’s first community summit.

More than 200 business, faith and civic leaders are expected at the summit, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2850 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek. Information, and tickets: https://bit.ly/367oMFR

Event organizers cite a 126% growth in poverty in just five years in suburban Atlanta.

“The summit coincides with the release of a report outlining the challenges quietly growing at an alarming rate in our community,” said Jack Murphy, North Fulton Poverty Task Force chairman. “We have presented some of the information to local civic groups, and have found leaders are interested to learn more and get involved.”

Donna Beegle, a nationally recognized poverty expert, will be the keynote speaker. Panelists will include Frank Fernandez, senior vice president of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, and Egbert Perry, chairman and CEO of The Integral Group.

Working groups will address short-, medium- and long-term solutions. Continental breakfast, snacks and lunch will be served.
