For the first time in years, Norcross will not be having a farmers market each Thursday afternoon. Participation in recent years had diminished while costs to run the event increased.
The Norcross City Council heard a proposal Monday to hold a one-time only city-sponsored farmers market as a test event to help determine the feasibility of an ongoing market. The test market would be held in conjunction with another city-sponsored event to increase traffic. The proposal cited the main objective to maintaining a farmers market would be to meet one of the ARC Green Communities measures and to support the city’s efforts as a Life Long Community.
After reviewing the proposal, the Norcross City Council voted to table a decision until the August council meeting.
