Warren Summers, a drug prosecutor with the Alcovy Judicial Circuit’s Newton County office, has been hired as the new Norcross police chief.
Summers will start his new role Wednesday and replace outgoing Chief Dallas Stidd, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
Summers began his law enforcement career in 1976 with the Stockbridge Police Department. He then worked at the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office in a number of roles until his retirement in 2006. Summers later earned bachelor’s and law degrees before pursuing a career as a prosecutor.
