A 21-year-old newlywed was killed Sunday after her car was struck by a tractor-trailer on I-285 southbound, near MLK Drive.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 51-year-old Jack Parsons, was attempting to change lanes around 6 p.m. when he struck Danyal Holley's Nissan Sentra, sending it out of control, Officer Kim Jones with Atlanta police told the AJC.
Holley had just married and lived in Woodstock, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office.
The car struck the right guardrail, then crossed the highway and was struck by the cab of another tractor-trailer, causing it to flip and land on its side, Jones said.
Parsons was arrested and charged with second degree vehicular homicide and improper lane change, Jones said. He was booked into the Fulton County jail Sunday night.
The wreck blocked all southbound lanes of I-285 in the area for about two hours Sunday night.
Holley's husband, whose name was not released, was a passenger in the Nissan. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
