Plans have been finalized for a new elementary school in Roswell.

The Fulton County Board of Education approved a $20.7 million contract with Carroll Daniel Construction Co. to demolish the Esther Jackson Elementary School campus at 1400 Martin Road and build a 134,000 square-foot, nearly 60-classroom replacement planned for occupancy in fall 2016.

Demolition of the current campus means that for the 2015-16 school year, current Esther Jackson students will be moved temporarily to another campus, the “Highway 9 Elementary School,” which will temporarily carry the Esther Jackson name. They’ll then move to the replacement school the next year.

The board also approved a North Fulton middle school redistricting plan that is said accommodates classroom additions at Hopewell, Taylor Road and Autrey Mill middle schools.
