The State Board of Pardons and Paroles announced Wednesday that a Loganville resident, Melodee Stewart, has been promoted to become the agency’s new director of clemency and parole selection.

Stewart formerly served as the agency's Central Region Director. Stewart began her career with parole as a parole officer in 1985, after working with state probation.

The Clemency Division of the Parole Board is responsible for the parole process which begins with the offender’s case being thoroughly investigated, ultimately resulting in the offender’s file being reviewed by the Board Members who determine whether to grant parole.
