A swearing-in ceremony for newly elected DeKalb County commissioner Nancy Jester takes place 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur.

Jester beat independent Holmes Pyles in a run-off election Dec. 2 to become the county’s representative for District 1 of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners.

Jester replaces Elaine Boyer, who pleaded guilty to defrauding taxpayers of $93,000 and resigned in August.

She will represent more than 140,000 people in Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, Dunwoody, Tucker and surrounding areas.
