Sandy Springs has launched a new application for smart phones, designed so that residents and others can help clean up the city.

The free program, called CoSSpotter, allows users to snap and submit photos of potholes, graffiti and other problems that the city needs to address.

The program uses a global positioning devices in the phones to automatically provide the location of an abandoned vehicle, broken sidewalk or other problem. It is available for Android, Blackberry and iPhone phones.

To download the program for free, visit www.sandyspringsga.org/cosspotter. Once a problem is reported, it will go into a city database where residents can monitor the progress via the website or phone application.
