Weather permitting, a new exit ramp from southbound U.S. 41 to U.S. 411 will open Tuesday morning in Bartow County near Cartersville, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

A new traffic signal where the ramp meets U.S. 411 (Tennessee Street) also will be activated at 9 a.m. Tuesday, GDOT said. The ramp’s opening is part of long-running effort to reconstruct the U.S. 41/U.S. 411 interchange and make other road improvements in the area.

The $42 million project, started in 2014 and expected to be completed this year, rebuilt bridges that carry U.S. 41 over U.S. 411 and the CSX railroad. Also, the U.S. 41 bridge over Pettit Creek was widened.
