After almost four decades in business, a family-owned store in Roswell will soon close its doors.

A retirement sale for The Chandlery, located at 950 Canton St., will begin Thursday and run through the end of the year.

"Mary Anne and Jim Johnson are celebrating their retirement after almost 40 years," according to a news release. "Their daughter, Sally, who has been with the business for 20 years, will move on to a different endeavor."

Originally established in a 400-square-foot clapboard building on South Atlanta Street in 1977, the store has provided "collectible houses, French linens, Christmas decor, fine china, tabletop, children’s gifts, local artists and much more" in the Canton Street location since 1990.
