Georgia Music Hall of Fame member Eva Mae LeFevre, matriarch of the Southern Gospel singing group The LeFevres, died Monday.

LeFevre, 91, of Smyrna, was hospitalized last month for pneumonia and a broken hip.

A singer and pianist, LeFevre and her late husband, Urias, formed The LeFevres, an Atlanta-based gospel group popular in the 1950s and 60s. She was also the host of a weekly television program during the 60s, the "Gospel Singing Caravan."

LeFevre was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1985.

In recent years, she was a regular performer at Bill Gaither Homecoming concerts.

A son, guitarist Mylon LeFevre, left the family group in the 70s and later peformed with rock musicians ranging from Little Richard to the Rolling Stones before returning to his Christian music roots.

The funeral for Eva Mae LeFevre will be at noon Thursday at Mt. Paran Church of God Central on Mt. Paran Road.
