Mountain Park won't get new tax notices

Taxpayers in the city of Mountain Park won't be receiving new property tax assessment notices or a new 45-day appeals deadline, according to the Fulton County assessors office.

Chief Appraiser Burt Manning decided Friday the tiny city in north Fulton could come off the mailing list, spokeswoman Alicia Phillips said. She did not have any details on the reasons, and Manning did not immediately return phone calls.

Property owners in Atlanta who were hit with over-inflated tax estimates, numbering about 135,000, will get new notices. The same will go for owners in Fulton cities whose notices didn't include estimates of municipal taxes: Alpharetta, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Milton, Palmetto, Roswell and Union City.

Taxpayers in Sandy Springs, Johns Creek and Chattahoochee Hills, whose city taxes are collected by the Fulton County Tax Commissioner's Office, will not receive new notices. Neither will residents of unincorporated south Fulton.
