A 24-year-old man was killed Sunday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle on Ronald Reagan Parkway near Snellville, Gwinnett County police said.

Kevin Hereford was traveling east, near the intersection of Five Forks Trickum Road, when he tried to change lanes and pass another vehicle about 7:45 p.m., police said.

Witnesses told police Hereford appeared to be speeding. He lost control of his 2002 Honda motorcycle, which ran off the road and slammed into a speed limit sign, police said.

Hereford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are trying to determine how fast Hereford was going, and the accident remains under investigation.

Police said the motorcycle did not hit any other vehicles.
