The Georgia State Patrol on Tuesday identified the motorcyclist killed when he slammed into a car while trying to flee a state trooper as Clarence Collymore, 26, of Ellenwood.

The incident happened in the 1250 block of Moreland Avenue in southeast Atlanta Monday night.

The state trooper turned on his patrol lights to make a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist sped away, Lt. Paul Cosper said.

The motorcyclist hit the back of another car, Cosper said.

Cosper said it's unclear why Collymore fled from the trooper.

"The only reason we could determine was that his license came back suspended," he told the AJC.
