In what has become a trend for the Technical College System of Georgia, two more of the system's campuses will merge.
Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin and Sandersville Technical College will merge by July 1, a move that will save the system about $500,000 in administrative and other costs. When the merger is complete the system will have 25 colleges.
Both campuses will remain open and none of their facilities or buildings will close, officials said. The campuses will expand distance learning programs and provide students with other new offerings, said Mike Light, system spokesman.
Over the past two years the system has merged 13 of its colleges into six. The system operated 33 campuses before the mergers took place.
