An Atlanta mother has been released on bond after she was charged with felony cruelty to children for allegedly leaving her twins in a hot sport-utility vehicle, Channel 2 Action News reports. .

A magistrate judge had set bond for Kimberly Arnold, 29, at $30,000 on each count of child cruelty, or $60,000 total. The judge, however, allowed Arnold to sign a signature bond to be released from Fulton County Jail.

Arnold's 17-month-old daughters were found about 1 a.m. Thursday after a security guard in the apartment parking garage at 490 Glenn St. SW heard crying coming from a Cadillac Escalade. The guard called police.

"We got the kids out of the car, they were heavily sweating, they had soiled diapers and we contacted Grady EMS and they came out and did an evaluation on the scene of the children and they decided they needed to go down to Hughes Spalding for a little bit more medical attention," Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs told Channel 2.

The toddlers were mildly dehydrated, Hobbs said. They were later released from the hospital to the custody of their aunt.

Arnold told police she only left the children in the vehicle for few minutes, but police spokesman John Chafee said the security guard told officers that the infants had been there for about 45 minutes before he heard the crying and called 911.
