A custom bus designed to extend the Veterans Administration reach to local veterans has been set up in Atlanta for would-be clients in DeKalb and surrounding counties.
The Mobile Vet Center is based at 1440 Dutch Valley Place in Atlanta and is part of 20 buses being deployed nationwide, said U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Lithonia.
The bus is outfitted with a confidential counseling area and other gear to improve veteran services. Johnson, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said he also will have the bus on hand for a Vet Expo expected later this year in DeKalb.
