The Milton Business Alliance announced it has merged with the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce to form the Milton Business Council, the first organization under the chamber’s umbrella to focus on a single community.

“We are excited that the influence and resources of the GNFCC are being focused to provide robust programming and a platform to spotlight the thriving business community of Milton,” said John Herbert, the Business Council’s first chairman.

The alliance had been run by volunteers since its inception in 2009, according to the announcement, and its board last year discovered nearly half its members also belong to the Greater North Fulton Chamber. That led to discussions involving the two groups and Sarah LaDart, the city of Milton’s economic development manager, leading to the merger.

The arrangement is modeled on that used by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. Besides Milton, the Greater North Fulton Chamber represents business owners in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Mountain Park, Roswell and Sandy Springs. Information: 770-993-8806.

“We believe that the new Milton Business Council will be better equipped to serve our city’s businesses – both those now in Milton and those that come here in the future,” said Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood.
